Back up and restore

Good day having trouble understanding how to back up and restore using usb stick, want to transfer all relevant data and apps to new shield any video tutorial available have found some on web but not working for me

You can use Settings->Defaults->Backup settings to make a settings backup file (*.ppbck) and then copy this file to other Android devices to restore settings by means of Settings->Defaults->Restore settings from this file.

I want to move my settings to another device when i hit back up I’m not seeing my USB stick to back it up to assuming that is how i move data from one device to another
